Babymoon: NYC + Ireland

(Sorry this post is so aggressively long! ;)  And this is only the first half of photos! It is just all so beautiful, I had to share! Although, we have probably 10 times more photos where these came from. Enjoy!)

Our babymoon trip started out in a freezing cold New York City! The flight from Los Angeles to Ireland is so long that we decided to break it up by stopping for a few days in one of our favorite cities. Happily, some of our family who live thousands of miles from us were nearby and visiting and so we all met up for a couple days in NYC - it was so fun (but so cold!) With the huge blizzard coming in just a few days later, the winds were icy and streets chilly. When we stepped out of the shuttle that took us to our hotel, I literally started crying (partly from exhaustion, partly from preggo hormones) mostly because it was just so incredibly COLD! I'd never felt that kind of cold in my life (#californiagirl) and I was just in shock the entire trip! You Midwestern/Eastern-ers are brave and amaaaaaazing.

We stayed at the Millennium Broadway hotel -- I was hoping for a good view of Times Square, but when we walked into our room, what bright tall building shone through my window but the Empire State Building!! It was oh so magical, especially because of the significance of the building in our love story ;) (if you've read "At Long Last" you know!) The Lord is so sweet to plan little details like that.

We so enjoyed exploring the city with family, despite the cold. NYC is the home of some of our (and especially Daniel's) very favorite foods so it was also a super delicious day -- we ate so much!

Our room's view of the Empire State Building was basically my dream come true!

We flew all night from NYC to Dublin and arrived in the morning. We were total zombies walking around that city! We got our rental car and then stopped at The Queen of Tarts (which our sister in law who has been to Dublin) recommended and it was the perfect first stop -- Ireland doesn't have the best food in my opinion (sorry Irish friends!!) but their tea and baked goods are just delightful and the best I've had anywhere.

We stayed in the most charming bed and breakfasts most of the trip (the last two nights we stayed in gorgeous castles!) and this was the first: Coolakay House in Enniskerry. It was the quintessential picture of an Irish B & B in the countryside. We woke up to this view and it was literally just so green we couldn't believe our eyes!

Our first day was spent exploring Wicklow Mountains National Park -- absolutely gorgeous! With little rivers and waterfalls all around, sheep everywhere, and green! It's where "Braveheart" and "P.S. I Love You" were filmed (remember the scene where she's on the path and meets Gerard Butler? :)

I found a little cafe on Pinterest called The Happy Pear and we had to find it! It's in County Wicklow. It was started by twin brothers with a passion for real, organic, natural, seasonal food and it's not just a cafe but a little shop too. We got to meet the brothers and they were super nice (and love California!) The food and hot chocolate were yummy!

WATERFORD.

IT RAINED ALL DAY WHILE WE VISITED, BUT THE TOWN WAS JUST SO CUTE. THE BUILDINGS WERE PAINTED IN ALL COLORS, LIKE CANDY!

I'll forever treasure this picture of my man. I called out, "Baby!" As he walked a little ahead of me and right when he turned around, I snapped this picture. It's exactly how he looks at me.

i loved the outside of this black and white striped pub. (and this is my exhausted, pregnant and tired of walking, cold and wet, i - miss - the - sunshine face haha!)
